Homosexual marriage, continuing to be accepted by culture, has also made its way into churches that are unwilling to stand on biblical writing and fight the "premise that is based on a misreading of history." Many try compare homosexuality, which has a consistent teaching throughout the bible, to the long list of Old Testament laws which only applied to an accent group of people. Our culture thinks that if they "bully Christianity enough, it will find a way to change its view of homosexuality." For some churches and groups, this is working, but Gobry pleads that we stick to God's "unified sexual complementary between men and women." From the beginning of Christianity, as Gods creation, we are called to certain "sexual ethic" in our way of life. Stop letting culture have a say in the biblical standards that were created for you, don't help the worlds crusade to get "Christianity to cave in."

    Gobry- Summary

In the world we live in today, the majority of Americans favor same-sex marriage and it is impolitic to be against it. If someone was to go against this kind of marriage, it would look bad even though being against it is the right thing to do. “Christian opposition to homosexual acts is of a piece with a much broader vision of what it means to be a human being that Christianity will never part with.” Even though homosexuality is a sin, being against it or looking down on it is a sin itself. Gobry talks about how Christians are so against this but we should not and instead should try to help. “Today, many gay-marriage proponents don't just want a live-and-let-live relationship with Christianity — they want to force Christianity to affirm same-sex marriage.” This explains how homosexuals do not want to live like a Christian but instead want Christianity to change and accept the same-sex marriage.

    Leniency

This essay is speaking on Christian’s opinion of Sexuality and sexual orientation in the modern world, it is also talking about how Christians are not some stuck up pricks stuck in the ways of the dark ages. He instead displays his opinion that we are instead a fairly up-to-date religion and people group. That we are fairly easy going, we adapt to the ethnic group that we are a part of. Whilst we do wat to change the people as a culture, but we as Christians primarily focus on the individual, and through the individual’s, we change the culture. However although we are adaptable as a culture, there are certain things that we stand strong with, even if it means going against the tide. Sexual orientation is one of those things. No matter the poking and prodding, no matter the oppression, there will always be Christians that will stand up to the enemy (Satan).

In this article Gobry is saying that our culture is more and more accepting homosexuality. But now it has given churches something to fight, on biblical writing and fight the "premise that is based on a misreading of history.” Many in our generation also like Gobry state that, "Christianity, after all, gets its doctrines from "the Bible," a self-contradictory grab bag of miscellany. When someone readings from the Bible fall into social disfavor, Christianity adjusts them accordingly”. Saying that we only follow what is said in the “Bible”. And that we favor anything that is in there and tend to shutout everything that is against it. Which i can agree, because sometimes you have know idea what that person is going through, also everyone sins and we need to help people that are just lost and steer them back in the right path. On the other hand there are people that want to force Christianity to accept same-sex marriage.” This explains how homosexuals do not want to live like a Christian but instead want Christianity to change and accept the same-sex marriage.

    Gobry Summary

Gobry begins the article by saying what most people already know that gay marriage is getting bigger instead of getting smaller. Next he talks about how Christianity has verses that are against slavery and homosexuality and how "Christians lawyer them selves out of those." Later in the article Gobry states how the story of God that Christians have been telling for 2000 years they have held firm in their belief. Then he goes on to say that "Pagan writers could scorn Christianity as a religion of "slaves and women."" Finally he writes that "From the start, Christians embodied a different way of life. From the start, they understood a particular sexual ethic to be a keystone of this way of life." This means us as Christians understood what and how we are suppose to serve God.

In the article "Why so Many Christians Won't Back Down on Gay Marriage", Gobry is talking about how the gay community wants the Christian community to accept them considering most of society has already done so. The very first paragraph of this article even tells us "A majority of Americans already favors same-sex marriage-- and everyone agrees that same-sex marriage will continue to be accepted by an even-bigger majority." What Gobry means by writing this is a major part of society has already accepted anyone who is homosexual and will continue to be accepted. Eventually being homosexual will be normal. Then, on the last page of this article Gobry writes "Today, many gay-marriage proponents don't just want a live-and- let-live relationship with Christianity --- they want to force Christianity to affirm same-sex marriage." Gobry is saying that the gay community wants to be accepted by all of society, including the Christian church. However, it appears that the Christian church is standing their ground and is not the biggest fan of homosexual activity even though the rest of society seems to be.

“Why So Many Christians Won’t Back Down on Gay Marriage”

Pascal- Emmanuel Gobry wrote an article last year about how our society is trying to convince Christians to accept homosexual ideas and rights because “everyone is doing it.” Gobry says, “That is to say, anyone who expresses opposition to same-sex marriage would be ostracized, with many progressives hoping to employ a variety of social and governmental means of coercion to force gay-marriage opponents to the margins of society.” With this possibility of being ostracized hanging over the heads of Christians, many are caving in with the pressure and modifying the Bible’s truths. However, there are still many Godly people in this world who know the truth. Historically, the Christian religion has done a great job of holding on to the truths stated in the Bible. One day though, somebody will have enough.

  9. Many people today now believe if you don't approve of same-sex relationships than you are out of the norm. More and more people these days are beginning to accept and even try homosexual lifestyles. In this article, Gobry explains how Christians are not the stereotypical Christian everyone associates us with. He states how us Christians feel about the way homosexuals identify themselves and what we believe they should do. People believe that we are stuck up judgmental pricks but in reality we will accept them into our Churches with open arms because then we will have to opportunity to help them live a life through Christ and help those who sin become free of their sin.

    Gobry Article
in this article it talks a lot about Christianity and the church. in the first paragraph, Gobry says that anyone against same sex marriage will get ostracized these days. this meaning that same sex marriage is more accepting nowadays. he talks about how the bible first intended same sex marriage, that god condemns same sex marriage even in the bible. Also he talks about how the church has been good at keeping its morals and beliefs and for the most part keeping same sex marriage out of the church.

    Gobry Summary
The article starts by saying that people are becoming more accepting towards homosexuality and gay marriages. He then goes on about how some Christians are still not accepting it, yet do things that the Bible says you shouldn't. He says the way to convince Christians to change their beliefs, is to throw Bible verses at them about the things they do that they shouldn't. So they can realize why they can't accept gay marriage but still accept other things. Many homosexuals just want Christians to change their views and beliefs
