Rosaria Butterfield's chapter, title "Conflict", discusses interaction with the opposing views Christians have on homosexuality and how to appropriately and effectively share viewpoints on Christian theology. We often think that what we're saying is the truth, even if it is backed in the bible, and we don't truly listen to people who have a different opinion in regards to homosexuality. Rosaria tells us that as fellow believers in Christ were on the "same team" and that we need to "really listen to each other and not pounce on every point of contention." The author introduces a friend of hers named Rebeca who disagrees with some of Rosaria's arguments (she believes that homosexual desires can sometimes come like a disability that can't be taken away) and says to embrace people like this, to "come to the table together... stand side by side." Butterfield says to approach others with "Christian love" opposed to sarcasm and anger, which "do more harm than good."

Chapter 6, Conflict, in Rosaria Butterfield's book, Openness Unhindered talks about one of Rosaria's friends, Rebecca. Rebecca is attracted to other women. This chapter expresses the view of Rosaria Butterfield on homosexuality compared to her friend, Rebecca. This chapter also explains the importance of really listening to others and what they have to say. She states, ""not the "yes, but" listening that pounces on every point of contention. But listening with empathy." Working together and listening to other sides with empathy in mind will allow working out of theological differences.

Rosaria Butterfield Chapter, title “Conflict”, is about how the different interaction between the opposite views that Christians have on homosexuality and their opinion on it. See with Christians we only think our opinion is the right one. We don’t want to listen to the opposite opinion because we just think is bad and wrong. Rosaria Butterfield tell us that “ When Christians are divided on key issues, we must stop and listen”. She then backs it up saying “because we agree that gods Glory is the ultimate end of all things, we know all who are washed clean in the blood of Christ are on the same team”. So working together side by side is listing to there side will help us understand there side and we can work together on theological differences.

    Openness Unhindered Chapter 6 Summary

When Christians do not agree on something, we should stop and listen to what we are saying because we are all on the same team. One thing to do when this happens is to shut our mouths and give the other person full attention. Sexuality is not for an identity because our identity in in Christ. The church needs to stop being so defensive of people practicing homosexuality and instead should be thinking of ways to help that person come to Christ and become new through him. To be able to help a person struggling with this we have to open our hearts and our home and always be there for them when they need it. “In Christ, though, sanctification is a gift from God, not a willful act.” This is a gift from God that will make us a new creation once we repent. We should all stand together as Christians and encourage others to become part of the family so that we can all walk together to heaven.

Chapter 6 Summary of Openness Unhindered

In the beginning of the chapter Dr. Butterfield states God's glory is the ultimate end of all things. She then reads a email her friend sent her about her lifestyle and proclaiming being a gay christian. Next Mrs. Butterfield defines what the term gay has meant from now to fifteen years ago. Then Butterfield has questions from her friend on how to help people with homosexual desires and Mrs. Butterfield responds by saying share real life stories together. finally she says that original sin is a democratizing idea and that she is not politically correct but biblically correct. This chapter is summarizing what brothers and sisters in Christ that have trouble with homosexuality should do and how to overcome the sin that very well might destroy them.

    Chapter 6 of Openness Unhindered

Dr. Butterfield's Chapter 6 of Openness Unhindered, is mainly about two things: people are bigger than their problems and calling yourself a gay Christian dishonors God. In this chapter, Dr. Butterfield introduces her friend and sister in Christ, Rebecca. Rebecca struggles with same sex attraction. Rebecca does not act on her temptations however, because she knows God would disapprove. She also does not call herself a gay Christian because it will bring dishonor to God's name. Dr. Butterfield talks about how she is still Rebecca's friend and can continue a normal friendship despite her homosexual temptations because Rebecca is bigger than her problems. There is more to Rebecca than just her sins.

    chapter 6 conflict
In chapter 6, Dr. Butterfield talks about an email she received from a woman named Rebecca, and the email talks about how she used to not say that she was gay, because that was frowned upon, she would say that she had a same sex attraction. then she goes on to talk about the word gay and how it is changed in society over the years. she says today it no longer means identity, but a lot to do with attraction. Butterfield agrees with Rebecca. then Butterfield and Rebecca talk about how to stop the young people struggling with homosexual desires. then Butterfield proposes the question, can her and Rebecca stand side by side because they are both women of God, but Rebecca hasn't grown away from her homosexual desires. she answers this question with a yes.

    What you say?

Chapter six of Openness Un-Hindered reviews the “OK but…” side of the argument, it goes over what another lesbian says about homosexuality. In this chapter Mrs. Butterfield includes an email from her friend about the issue of her (the friend) sexuality. In this email Mrs. Butterfield’s friend goes on to say that she had been part of the ex-gay movement, and said that she no longer believed in it. The biggest reason for her separation from the movement was that she had seen too many of its leaders fall back into a homosexual relationship, and thus she chooses not to be affiliated with them anymore. Mrs. Butterfield says that while she does disagree with her friend on several issues, they agree on many more important things, and thus they get along.
